Sophia Ramel's artistic practice revolves around the incorporation of portraiture with house hold furniture. In past years Ramel has broadly made works in photography, print making, drawing, sculpture and painting. For 2019 however she has concentrated on solely painting and merging sculpture into that practice.

Her most recent practice, as of September 2019, consists of her interpretation of Anamorphosis, which is the practice of creating an image through mirrors and specific perspectives for the viewer to take in order to see the full picture.  Although this still is a main theme tied to her work, she have also developed a central theme consisting of the interaction alone of the viewer to see her artworks.

She aim's to create a series of work in which the viewer is persuaded to look and discover all of the hidden paintings on the pieces. This theme all came from the fact that artists typically will have seven seconds of view time from an average viewer. This is something that can be very discouraging towards artists, this is why Sophia has decided to focus her theme towards this and in a way force the viewer to have to get up close and personal with her works.

Ramel has created works representing the theme by collecting and priming various objects of furniture. The process takes some time having to sand and prime every available space on the cupboard (for example). This is to create a blank slate on which she will paint portraiture's and figures on. Her paintings are of varying sizes ranging from a couple of cm wide to full door panels.

Ramel's subject matter consists of faces. This is her motif of choice as it holds the most interest towards for herself plus she believe's it is quite confronting having to find a painting that is staring right back at you.
